🧭 When Fatou Clicked “Submit Application”

At 23, Fatou was finishing her studies with one big question on her mind: “What’s next ?”

That’s when she discovered our organization, Sailing Stone, which supports young people from the African diaspora through meaningful professional immersions on the african continent.

A golden opportunity ? Without a doubt.

“I had never heard of a program that builds a bridge between the diaspora and the African continent. It was the perfect opportunity.” – Fatou

🌱 Immersion at Grow For Me : Agriculture Meets Innovation

Fatou was hosted by Grow For Me Ghana, an innovative company working in sustainable agriculture and financial inclusion. Mission ? Carry out a market research to help the company expand into francophone Africa, especially Côte d’Ivoire. No photocopies here: only concrete.

“From day one, I had a mentor, clear deliverables, and was integrated as a true member of the team.” – Fatou

🇬🇧 English ? Challenge Accepted

Doing an internship abroad is never easy especially in a language you don’t use every day. But Fatou pushed through:

– Daily conversations in English
– Professional reports written entirely in English
– Confidence boost: x1000

“I had never written a professional document in English before. Now I have. And honestly, I’m proud of myself.” – Fatou

🍛 Robotics, and conversations that make you think

This internship wasn’t just about sitting in front of a laptop.
Fatou also got a deep dive into Ghanaian culture and joined various workshops : recycling, sustainability, robotics, upcycling… a true life-learning journey.

“What I loved most? The openness, the desire to connect, and the energy of the youth. It really inspired me.” – Fatou

💬 What She Takes Away

– Africa is full of professional opportunities
– The diaspora has a key role to play in Africa’s professional ecosystem
– Stepping outside your comfort zone truly helps you grow

“Thanks to Sailing Stone, I realized we can succeed here, in Africa — with meaning and impact.” – Fatou
